LSE’s shipyard is one of the largest and most well-equipped in South-East Asia. It is capable of handling ships up to 16,000 deadweight tons with the capability of further expansion to take vessels of more than 20,000 tonnes deadweight.
Ideally sited on 30-hectare of land within the port of Victoria Harbour on Labuan Island, the shipyard is blessed with deep-water access, shelter from prevailing monsoons, strategic geographical location and free port status.
The shipyard has a capacity of 36,000 tonnes per annum of product throughput. This means that at any one time LSE can undertake multiple projects such as the construction of offshore platforms (over 2000 tonnes each) or ocean going ships without any bottleneck problems.
The shipyard’s load out facilities comprise a 7,000-tonne capacity Syncrolift shiplift system, a 12,000-tonne capacity skidway and quay and a 3,000-tonne capacity loadout skidway and quay. The yard also possesses approximately 900 metres of deep water wharfage for ships.
